Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE)
At St Cuthbert’s Catholic Primary School, we deliver Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) through Life to the Full Plus, a programme developed by Ten:Ten Resources and approved by the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle. The programme is rooted in the Catholic understanding that every person is uniquely created and loved by God and supports children's spiritual, physical, emotional and social development.
Working in Partnership with Parents
We recognise that parents and carers are the first educators of their children. The Catholic Church teaches that schools work alongside families, supporting parents in educating children about relationships, health and human development. We value the strong partnership between home, school and parish, and thank families for their continued support in this important area of learning.
What Children Learn
The Life to the Full Plus programme is organised into three themes:
• Created and Loved by God – understanding ourselves, our bodies, emotional wellbeing, growth and change.
• Created to Love Others – developing healthy relationships, respecting others, staying safe and keeping safe online.
• Created to Live in Community – understanding our place in the wider world, communities, careers, money and the common good.
Learning is carefully planned from Early Years to Year 6 and is delivered in an age-appropriate manner within the context of Catholic teaching.
