RE Lead Teachers in school are Mrs Noble & Miss Huntley
At St. Cuthbert’s we want our pupils to know that they are all valued as unique individuals with their own strengths, aptitudes and interests, who live their lives embodying Gospel values and being an integral part of school & parish life. We want our pupils to have opportunities to learn about the catholic faith and teachings and to use this learning to link religious worship and catholic life. We want our pupils to understand how the scriptures and teachings of Christ help them make moral and ethical choices and help them discern their vocation to be active citizens of Catholic Social Teaching.
At our school, Religious Education (RE) is a core subject and reflects the Catholic ethos and mission of the school. It forms an integral part of the curriculum and contributes to the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils.
However, in accordance with legislation, parents and carers have the right to withdraw their child, wholly or in part, from Religious Education lessons. Any parent wishing to exercise this right is encouraged to speak with the Headteacher to discuss their concerns and the nature of the provision that will be made for their child during these times.
Where a child is withdrawn from RE, we will make appropriate alternative arrangements for supervision, though we are not required to provide alternative curriculum content.
Information about RSE and PSHE which underpin and support our RE curriculum can be found on the relevant curriculum pages.
