Y4 Finally Friday – 3rd April

Good morning to you all in Year 4 on this last day of term!

So how did you get on with yesterday’s tasks? Okay I hope?

So do we all now remember how to round numbers up and down? Hopefully you found the BBC Bite size video and Super Movers useful? Remember there’s probably a video or power point out there that can help you with your learning when you haven’t got a teacher but it does take time to search!

MATHS

I’m posting four Arithmetic Tests today here and in Google Classroom. There’re two sheets for Book B, one for Book C and Book D which is what most of you do. Do one or do them all – it’ll be good arithmetic revision!

Remember

Missing number at the beginning do the inverse and we’re winning!

Missing number in the middle do a subtraction after a fiddle!

Keep practising your times tables using Times Table Me, TT Rock Stars or Squeebles.

READING

Reading Plus online. Are you accessing the reading tasks on here?

Please read your own or school books. Tune into David Walliams or Adam Bushnell stories online. Oscar actually had some of his story read out by Adam! What an absolute star! Well done Oscar!

WRITING

Are you still writing regularly in your Journal? Please continue to do some of this during the Easter break as it’s going to be different, isn’t it?

Write the next part of the Holy Week story in your book.

I think the next few pages to colour and think about are about Jesus in the garden, his arrest and trial by Pilate (at least I’m hoping that’s what they are!) Anyway as usual there are slides you can read to help you today. It’s the same instruction given on Tuesday and yesterday.

Go to the School Home Page and click on Topmarks.

Then click All about Easter.

Scroll down until you find Easter Story. Click on this and read the next few pages.

Like yesterday your challenge is to retell the story but including some direct speech. Imagine what Jesus might have said? What about Peter, John and James? Then there’s Pilate when he questioned Jesus. What conversations might there have been?

Remember new speaker, new line and the other Y4 skills especially paragraphs and good punctuation throughout!

Next week is Holy Week – It starts on Sunday when at Mass you’d normally be given palm leaves to wave to remember Jesus’ entry to Jerusalem. This obviously will not happen this year!

Then you’d be invited to attend all the church services during that week to remember Jesus’ last hours with his friends before he died on the cross and was buried. The end of this most special week in the church calendar is Easter Sunday, when we celebrate his resurrection!

As we are unable to remember these events in school and church services I’d really like you to continue reading and writing this amazing story! Please try!

Here are few end of week fun activities.

Mrs Parlett is going to put a few suggestions on our Website, for the Easter break, so take a look.

It’s weird saying enjoy the Easter break but hopefully you can do something different with your family  if they’re not working – it might just take a little bit of imagination.

I hope to see you soon after the Easter holiday but we’ll have to wait and see.

Remember you can keep in touch with each other in the Y4 Google Classroom.

Take care! Stay safe! Stay positive!

Love from

Mrs Fitzpatrick
