Some lovely ideas for Just So Stories – how the tiger got his stripes, how the giraffe got his long neck, how the hedgehog got his spikes and how the dog got his tail to name some! Can’t wait to read these stories. Now if we were in school we would take a few days to do this, not rush through. That’s exactly what I’d like you to do over the next few days please – you can even finish next week if you need to.

Your story will have an opening, a build up, a problem, a resolution (solving the problem) and an ending. 5 sections altogether.

Today let’s just do the opening. It should take you about 20 minutes.

When we write our story it needs to begin with the world a long time ago e.g. When the world was new, In the beginning, In a time long, long ago…
Then we need to describe that world. The heat, the smells etc. A bit like you did for the desert last week remember?
Finally in our first paragraph, we need a rhetorical question. For example Rudyard Kipling might have said “Doesn’t it sound wonderful O Best Beloved?” because he always talked to his little girl in his stories. You can steal that if you want.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE SHEET – IT WILL HELP!!!!

Finally, you have a choice for the Maya. I have added some things to the Google Drive that you might like to do about Gods, everyday life, food, writing etc. You can choose which you prefer and spend some time over the next two days doing them. You don’t need to print any worksheets. You can present your work however you like. Posters, using Google Slides, a piece of writing. It’s up to you. Here is a link to some BBC videos as well.
