On Friday, Year 6 were treated to a visit from local author, Adam Bushnell. We had a go at describing a rainforest and using some ambitious vocabulary. This afternoon, Year 5 have been doing a scientific experiment to find out which materials made good thermal insulators. We tried three different materials and checked the temperature of the water after 3, 6 and 9 minutes. We really enjoyed learning how to read the thermometers and predicting which material would keep the water the warmest.

This week we had a visit from author Adam Bushnell. We’ve been learning about Meerkats in class and with Adam we found out some interesting facts. Then we wrote our own storyboard about a meerkat. We had lots of fun and can’t wait to see Adam again.

As we are in the season of Lent, Reception class have been busy making and carrying out their Lenten promises. Yesterday we visited church to look and the stations of the cross. We listened to the story of Good Friday and said prayers as we visited each station. Mrs Wilkinson thought we were very good at reflecting and praying.

Wow! What a day for Lyra (y4) and Ava (y6). After qualifying back in October for County Finals, the girls both went on Friday to represent the Easington District in cross country. On Thursday, children from years 4 and 6 headed off to East Durham College to participate in a basketball skills session and a competition.
