Hello Year 2,
I hope that you have all had a lovely weekend and managed to enjoy some of the sunshine.
English
A little while ago, in our history topic of ‘Fantastic Firsts’, we learnt all about the first moon landing. For English time today, I would like you to access the history section of BBC Bitesize and complete activity 3 which is a reading comprehension activity. There are some nice little videos for you to enjoy too. If you sit at Yellow table for English I would like you to complete the first reading comprehension which has one star at the bottom, Orange and green complete the second one with two stars and rec and blue complete the third with three stars. Remember to look carefully back at the text to find and check your answers. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zj93bdm
Maths
For maths, we are going to do some measuring, You will need a ruler for part of today’s activity. We will be using Whiterose home learning again today. You need to go to Summer Term Week 1, Lesson 3 – – Measuring Length cm. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/
Watch the video and complete the task. Can you also complete the flash back 4. This is also on the video.
Art
This week, I am going to set you an art challenge. This may take you a few days or even the full week to complete so take your time and enjoy it.
In our art topic we were looking at sculptures. We looked at sculptures by Antony Gormley. He was the sculptor of ‘The Angel of the North’.
Task: Can you find a picture of ‘The Angel of the North. How many different ways can you recreate it? You could;
*Sketch it using a black fine liner or a pencil . Remember to look carefully at the lines in the picture
*Sculpt it from playdoh, modelling clay, or salt dough.
*Make it from lego or other construction materials.
*Make it from pipe cleaners if you have any in your craft materials.
*Paint it.
*Chalk it on a larger scale outside
*Collage it
*Make your own model using junk from your recycling box.
*Make a human sculpture like we did in the school hall with your family.
I can’t wait to see how creative you’re all going to be! Don’t forget to share your creations with me either on the google classroom or by email at k.wilkinson@stcuthbertsprimary.com
Have a fabulous day,
Mrs Wilkinson
