Monday 11th May

Morning Year 2, I hope that you have all had a fabulous weekend with your families. I would love to see of photographs of you celebrating VE Day at home.

In maths today, we will continue to use White Rose. The videos are in the usual place https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/  but the worksheets aren’t so I have added that google classroom. Today we will be working on Summer week 4, Lesson 1 and we will be looking at adding and subtracting tens to a 2 digit number. Remember when we add tens, the number in the ones column always stays the same! Remember as always you can head over to BBC Bitesize for more maths. I have added the link for this also.https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zbypscw

For English today, can you write a diary entry to say what you did on VE Day 2020? Make sure you use adverbs (quickly, excitedly etc), adjectives (amazing, brilliant etc) and conjunctions to extend ideas (and, or, but, so, when, if, that, because). Start your diary with Dear Diary. Don’t forget to include how you are feeling etc.
Can you use different sentence types in your diary writing? See some examples below:

Statement – I had the best day ever with my family today because we had a fantastic party to celebrate VE Day.
Question – Would you like to hear all about my amazing day?
Command – Read my fabulous diary entry.
Exclamation – How wonderful it was to spend the day together celebrating! What an awesome day we had!

This week it is ‘Waterwise water saving week.’ Go to the link https://waterwise.org.uk/save-water/ and read all about why it is important to save water. You will also be able to use this link to find ways of saving water in the home. Can you make a list of eight different ways that you could save water in the home?

Have a fabulous day and don’t forget to have some active time!
