Mini Police

We have been involved with Durham Police in a mini police initiative. Some children in year 5 have been learning all about the police. They have learnt the phonetic alphabet and also looked at the different roles within the police force, as well as trying on a variety of uniforms and accessories. We then focused on the topic of Antisocial behaviour, as this was identified as being an issue in our local area. We learnt the different types of antisocial behaviour and the consequences for committing these offences. We then went around our local area distributing leaflets about this problem. Following on from this, the children have planned an assembly with the police officers to show the rest of the school what we have been doing.

We have been invited to go to Durham Police Headquarters to have a look around and see what actually happens.
