Our A and B Teams had their final game of the season tonight.

The B Team played first against a very strong St. Mary Magdalen side. Both teams showed great skill and determination and St. Mary’s opened the scoring just before half time. Although we had some great chances and played some great balls into the box, we just couldn’t find the goal. The final score was 4-0 to St. Mary Magdalen’s. Our Player of the Match was Will because he made some great saves and was able to keep out so many great shots on target.

The A Team played next and it was an evenly matched game. They scored, we scored, they scored then we scored again to bring the final score to 2-2. Some excellent defensive skills helped to achieve the draw and Evan scored both of our goals. Nithishan was awarded Player of the Match for being a wall in defense. Overall, it was a very close game and both sides played extremely well and showed great sporting values.

It’s been a great season and the boys have made us proud so many times. Thank you to all the children and parents for showing support, enjoying the game and representing St. Cuthbert’s fantastically.

A special mention to our referee, Mr. Coates, who has been refereeing at our school for years and has been involved with the school football for over 50 years. Mr. Coates has decided to hang up his whistle and take a well earned rest. The A Team presented him with a hamper of goodies to show our appreciation.
