Writing

Writing Lead Teacher in school is Mrs Parlett

Writing is a central part of our curriculum. When children join us in Reception Class, they learn to write alongside their work in phonics and through a wide range of adult led activities as well as the rich writing environment created in our continuous provision.  By the end of Year 6 we want our children to have developed a love of writing and to be able to express their thoughts and ideas clearly and creatively through writing in all areas of the curriculum.

We aim to enable our children to be able to confidently use the essential skills of grammar, punctuation and spelling, have the knowledge and creativity to write in different styles and have the resilience and independence to edit and improve their own writing . We teach creative writing and genres through shared writing with a systematic focus on securing the basics of presentation, punctuation and grammar in relation to the text type being taught.
