Our Y5&6 Sewing Club have worked patiently to design and make patterns, pieces and then sew together their drawstring shoe bags – we love their individual designs. Well done!

We have had a lovely first day exploring the local area. We have skipped stones along the River Swale and then enjoyed an ice cream in the village of Reeth. After tea, we completed some map work and then spent some time playing games. .  .

Maths Rockstar Day We will be holding a Maths Rockstars Day on Thursday 2nd May and inviting all our pupils and staff to dress as rockstars for the day while we have some maths fun.  Please see the letter below for details and the video explaining our TTRockstars programme for pupils from Y2 to Y6.

Today our children from Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 Dance Club took part in the Sports Partnerships Dance Festival at Murton Glebe Centre. This afternoon, Year 5 have been doing a scientific experiment to find out which materials made good thermal insulators. We tried three different materials and checked the temperature of the water after 3, 6 and 9 minutes. We really enjoyed learning how to read the thermometers and predicting which material would keep the water the warmest.

Y5 had lots of fun today. We enjoyed completing some puzzles, dressing in our funny and bright clothing and completing some funny team games as part of PE. We also talked about what Comic Relief does with the money that we raise and why the projects it supports are important. We were looking at our Catholic Social Teaching animals, particularly …

Year 5 and 6 had a visit from the local neighbourhood policing team yesterday. They discussed issues around “stranger danger,” who to trust and what to do if they find themselves in that situation. They were also taught more about staying safe online following our E-safety day before half term. We look forward to working alongside them in the future.

In Year 5, we have been creating dragon eyes in art. We used art pencils to draw the shapes of the scales and the eyeball and outlined them using fine-liners. We investigated colour wheels and looked at complementary and contrasting colours. We experimented with warm and cool colours and tried blending different shades together to get a graduated effect. Spring Term 2024

Y5 had a wonderful time getting into the festive spirit by taking part in the Santa Dash. They really enjoyed the activities and getting covered in snow at the end.

We are very proud of all of the year 5 & 6 children who attended the sportshall athletics competition today competing in both track and field events. They all performed extremely well and demonstrated excellent sportsmanship.
